Assertive Community Treatment  (ACT)

ACT was the original intensive case management program which LA County DMH operated, in fact our FSP program started as an ACT program.  ACT is based on the PACT model, a widely researched, efficacious, evidenced-based form of treatment in the area of intensive case management.  LA County has replaced the directly operated ACT programs with FSP. The criteria for FSP are slightly different, with the major difference being addressing the issues of chronic homelessness and interaction with the justice system, which are related to mental illness.  There are still ACT programs in LA County through county contracted agencies.  In either case, the treatment model involves intensive case management, including field-based services as needed, to assist individuals in managing their illnesses as well as moving forward with their recovery and living productive, meaningful lives.
